Notes My second time seeing Aerosmith was much better than the first. This time around I got to see the classic Aerosmith lineup and a band that seemed to really want to play together and have fun. I have this great memory of Steven Tyler shaking his ass during "Sweet Emotion." I recall thinking he makes singing in front of a loud rock band seem to be the easiest of professions - he never lets on how much vocal power and visual presence is necessary to put yourself across to a vast audience.
Interesting to note: Only months after this tour ended, the band experienced a resurgence in popularity with the successful remake of "Walk This Way" by Run-D.M.C. featuring lead singer Steven Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry. In the meantime, the band members entered drug rehabilitation and started working on their next album, the multi-platinum smash hit Permanent Vacation (1987). The best was yet to come for my future Aerosmith shows.
I remember during Ted Nugent's encore that he walked out on the stage dressed only in a loin cloth and he had the Spectrum turn on all the lights. It was loud, dirty and everything you'd hope a Ted Nugent performance would be.
