Date April 19, 1991Band Yes Tour Union Venue Patriot Center City Fairfax, VA Who saw this show with me? Linda Altobell
Notes - The Union world tour united all eight members on one stage in a short-lived "Mega-Yes" line-up of Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, Steve Howe, Trevor Rabin, Tony Kaye, Rick Wakeman, Bill Bruford, and Alan White. The tour itself featured tracks spanning the band's entire career, and, according to wikipedia, it was one of the highest-grossing concert tours of 1991 and 1992. I had seen Yes many times prior to this show and I must say I was pretty excited about seeing all the members on one stage. Sadly, the show did not live up to the hype and I walked away somewhat disappointed. I guess, when all was said and done, it came down to the set-list and the forced combination of the "classic" Yes sound mixed with the 90125 Yes sound of the 80's. The "Mega-Yes" line-up tried so hard to please everyone (including themselves) that they came across as a parody of what Yes use to be and, as such, ceased to be a band at all.
